MODERATE STANDARD FITNESS TEST
why are we here?
All personnel working on a wildfire in BC are subject to requirements around confirming their fitness for the work. To meet this requirement, all personnel on our Type 3 crews are required to pass what is called “The Moderate Standard Fitness Test”.
what is it?
You must prove your ability to walk 3.22 km (2.0 miles) while carrying an 11.33 kg (25 lb) pack in under 30 mins.
how is it conducted?
All personnel are obliged to meet yearly in order to fulfill this requirement.
Loki Tree provides various sessions throughout the Spring in our deployment locations in order to aid personnel in getting this task completed.
S-100 / S-185 new recruit training courses will always have a fitness testing session attached to them.
Session is invigilated by Loki admin, and is often monitored by a BCWS Officer.
Participants in Loki fitness tests will conduct the test in work boots and fire uniforms. Uniforms are provided.
what to bring:
Change of clothes, boots, water, and a backpack capable of carrying 25 lbs comfortably. (You will be given a 25 lb weight to put in your pack).
optional:
Towel, food, stretching mat, sunglasses, hat. etc.
