Basic Chainsaw Operation
A 16-Hour Basic Chainsaw Safety Course for Industry
Course HOURS:
May 21 and May 22
8:00 AM to 4:00 PM
Day 1 is a classroom day and Day 2 is an outdoor Practical Day

May 21 in NATC Auditorium
May 22 in field; meet at Trail Crew building

Students Can Expect to Learn:
Limb and buck trees that are on the ground or suspended below breast height
Cutting and bucking trails, including brushing and slashing around standing timber
Cutting standing stems under 6” diameter at breast-height
Cutting stumps under 10ft tall, processing timbers, other ground-based skills

Basic Bucking Principles
Brushing and Limbing
WHAT TO BRING:
Please wear clothing suitable for working with fuel / oil / grease.
This course will be held partly indoors and partly outdoors, please come prepared for both.
Please wear suitable boots or heavy footwear.
This will be two 8 hour sessions. There will be a half-hour break for Lunch.
Consider a Pencil/Pen, Notebook, and any supplies you wish for taking notes.
Bring a Hardhat, hi viz vest, boots, gloves and ear protection if you have them.
This is a basic competency course with a written quiz and a practical component.
